How We Work

We foster cross-sector collaboration by actively connecting humanitarian actors with relevant financial entities seeking to contribute, through innovative finance and the capital markets, to humanitarian causes. We connect stakeholders by leveraging our networks and provide forums for discussion, problem-solving, and relationship-building by hosting regular events of varying structures and purposes.&nbsp;

The Humanitarian Finance Forum aims to provide a platform for subject matter experts drawn from key stakeholders within innovative finance &ndash; humanitarian institutions, international organizations, investment banks, insurance companies, and governments. &nbsp;Participants representing senior executives and key decision-makers across sectors actively engage in innovative finance and have a strong understanding of capital markets and/ or ICMA's <a href="https://www.icmagroup.org/sustainable-finance/the-principles-guidelines-and-handbooks/social-bond-principles-sbp/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Social Bond Principles</a>. These members represent a diverse mix of organizations, spanning public, private, philanthropic capital and humanitarian actors.

Types of Events

HFF hosts a series of events each year. The three primary types events are the Annual Summit,&nbsp; Workshops, Rountable and Spotlight Events.

Summit The Summit is a one-day event that provides a sector overview, updates from the previous year, and opportunities for members to network. It also includes an update on HFF, including a review and assessment of the past year and plans for the next quarter.&nbsp; Workshop Workshops present and assess a specific investment case or concept. These events are designed to seek feedback from market participants and identify next steps for the concept. These are invitation-only events that provide a 90-120 minute deep dive on the topic at hand.

Roundtable
&nbsp;
Roundtables provide more general or multi-topic sector and market updates. These events may include presentations from keynote speakers but will primarily serve as a discussion forum. They are open to the broader HFF member community and typically run for around 60 minutes.&nbsp; Spotlight Event Spotlight Events have a thematic focus and provide relevant sector and market updates. These events include presentations from keynote speakers followed by a facilitated discussion. They are open to the broader HFF member community and typically run for around 60 minutes.
